Policy covered by SSS biometrics ID cards
- The Social Security System (SSS) issues biometrics identification (ID) cards to identified beneficiary categories.
- The advisory provides guidance on who may apply, where to apply, what identification documents to present, and processing time.
Persons eligible for SSS biometrics ID
- An Active member is a person who has made at least one (1) month contribution to the SSS.
- A Pensioner/Guardian is a person receiving monthly disability, retirement, or survivor’s pension (spouse and guardians) from the SSS.
- A Dependent is a child receiving dependent’s pension from the SSS on account of the member’s retirement, total disability, or death.
- The advisory covers applications for Social Security ID for these categories.
Application channels and locations
- Applications for Social Security ID are accepted at the SSS POEA Branch.
- Applications are also accepted at all other local SSS branch offices nationwide.
- Applications are accepted at SSS representative offices at Philippine Embassies in Riyadh, Brunei, Hong Kong, Kuwait, London, Qatar, and Taipei.
Required identification documents
- Applicants must present any of the following identification documents:
- Passport
- Professional Regulation Commission Card
- Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book (SIRB)
- Valid driver’s license
- If the above documents are not available, applicants may present any two (2) documents from the following list.
- When presenting any two (2) alternate documents, at least one must be a document with the individual’s photo.
- The alternate documents are:
- Alien Certificate of Registration
- Birth Certificate
- Certification from the Office of Southern/Northern Cultural Communities/Office of the Muslim Affairs
- Fisherman’s Card issued by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
- GSIS Member’s Record
- Health or Medical Card
- ID Card issued by Professional Associations recognized by Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)
- Major Credit Card
- Marriage Contract
- Old GSIS ID Card
- Old SS ID Card
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ID Card
- Police Clearance
- Postal ID
- Savings Account Passbook
- Senior Citizen Card
- SS Blue Card for Company Representative
- Transcript of Records
- TIN Card
- Valid NBI Clearance
- Voter’s ID
Processing timeline and applicant notification
- The processing of new SSS ID cards takes about one (1) month.
- Applicants are notified of the arrival of their respective ID cards via text message or phone call.
