Classification of Vehicles and Required Safety Signs
- The regulations distinguish between two categories of vehicles:
- Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 4501 kilograms and above.
- Other Vehicles, including cars.
- Required safety signs for these vehicles include:
- Front windshield: A sign stating "RHD VEHICLE - AN AIDE REQUIRED ON THE LEFT SIDE".
- Rear of the vehicle: A sign stating "CAUTION - RIGHT HAND DRIVE".
- For vehicles carrying container vans: An additional, independent sign must be attached or hooked to the container with the inscription "CAUTION - RIGHT HAND DRIVE".
Specifications of Safety Signs
- Signs must be made from reflective sheeting material to ensure visibility both day and night.
- Letter height must be at least 5 centimeters.
- The overall sticker size must be no less than 10 centimeters by 60 centimeters.
- Signs must be visible and readable from a minimum distance of 50 meters under all lighting conditions.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
- Any RHD motor vehicle found violating these regulations will be subject to penalties.
- Operation of such vehicles without the driver being accompanied by an aide on the left side is also a violation.
- A fine of Five Hundred Pesos (₱500.00) will be imposed separately on the driver and the owner, both held liable.
Amendments to Previous Orders
- This Order amends previous Orders, specifically:
- AO No. 86-AO-004 dated July 25, 1986.
- AO No. 90-003 dated March 5, 1990.
Effectivity
- The Order shall take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
