Legal basis and policy intent
- The resolution grounds the Board’s authority to set ethical and professional standards for the practice of radiologic technology in its quasi-legislative power under Section 9 (g) and Section 13, subject to approval by the Commission.

Ethical duties: state and society
- Radiologic Technologists and X-Ray Technologists must be aware of the supreme authority of the state and must adhere to the Constitution, R.A. No. 7431, and other laws and the rules and regulations promulgated pursuant to those laws (Article I, Section 1).
- They must consider the welfare and well-being of the public and the interest of the state (Article I, Section 2).
- They are encouraged to involve themselves in civic affairs and cooperate with other organizations to promote the growth and welfare of the community (Article I, Section 3).
Ethical duties: patients and clients
- Patients/clients are the focus of practice, and radiologic technologists must at all times act with dignity and sincerity and express genuine concern in discharge of work (Article II, Section 1).
- They must keep in confidence any data or findings obtained in the performance of duty (Article II, Section 2).
- They must not discriminate against anyone and must attend to all patients/clients regardless of creed, race, belief, or political affiliation (Article II, Section 3).
- They must provide the highest level of technical knowhow in performance of work.
- They must use courtesy, empathy, compassion, and privacy to the patient/client and the patient/client’s family (Article II, Section 4).
- They must try to perform examinations within reasonable time to avoid risk of repetition and to minimize the radiation exposure to the patient (Article II, Section 4).
Ethical duties: allied profession relationships
- Radiologic Technologists and X-Ray Technologists must bear in mind that their profession is a public trust, must maintain and uphold the dignity and integrity of the profession, and must protect it from misinterpretation (Article III, Section 1).
- They must not directly or indirectly assist in any unauthorized practices of the profession (Article III, Section 2).
- They must report violations of R.A. No. 7431, the rules and regulations, and this Code of Ethics for registered radiologic technologists and registered X-ray technologists to the Board of Radiologic Technology (Article III, Section 2).
- They must share information and experiences with fellow paramedical professionals, participate, and be active members of the accredited association of radiologic technologists and X-ray technologists (Article III, Section 3).
- Schools and colleges with radiologic technology and X-ray technology courses must be encouraged to conduct research to enhance growth and advancement of the profession (Article III, Section 3).
- They must observe punctuality and keep appointments, particularly in discharging duties with patients/clients (Article III, Section 4).
- They must avoid instances where personal interest and financial gains conflict with those of patients/clients, colleagues, or employers (Article III, Section 5).
- They must perform tasks with honor and dignity, and be fair and impartial to all (Article III, Section 6).
- They must keep their reputation above reproach and conduct themselves with proper decorum to gain public esteem and respect for the profession (Article III, Section 7).
- They must strive for professional growth through continuing education and subscriptions for professional journals (Article III, Section 8).
- They must not degrade a colleague’s reputation, competence, and capability to aggrandize themselves (Article III, Section 9).
- They must encourage and provide opportunities for professional development and advancement of colleagues (Article III, Section 10).
- They must adhere to the principles of due process and equality of opportunity in peer relationships and personnel actions (Article III, Section 11).
- They must align personal philosophies and attitudes with those of the institutions they serve (Article III, Section 12).
- They must help create and maintain conditions in which scholarship can exist, including freedom of inquiry, thoughts, and expressions (Article III, Section 13).
- They must be receptive to new ideas, knowledge, and innovations that contribute to development and growth of the profession (Article III, Section 14).
Ethical duties: agency and employers
- Radiologic technologists and X-ray technologists must assist in improving governmental agencies’ functions and lightening patients’ workload (Article IV, Section 1).
- They must be vigilant in protecting the equipment and materials needed to perform their duties (Article IV, Section 2).
- They must perform tasks assigned by governmental agency employers in good faith and to the best of their abilities, using their technical skills and diligence, particularly when patient safety may be jeopardized by neglect (Article IV, Section 3).
- They must help promote, support, assist, and establish goodwill and camaraderies toward peer employees in paramedical professions (Article IV, Section 4).
Ethical duties: personal conduct and practice
- Radiologic technologists and X-ray technologists must always be honest, dependable, level-headed, and morally upright (Article V, Section 1).
- They must provide for professional growth through continuing education, attendance in seminars, subscriptions for professional journals, and research materials (Article V, Section 2).
- They are entitled to just and fair compensation for services rendered (Article V, Section 3).
- They must not allow their names to be advertised by any person or organization unless they are employed therein (Article V, Section 4).
