Restoration Directive for the Intendencia Building
- The Intendencia Building shall be restored to its original condition.
- Restoration includes facade, outside appearance, height, architectural details, consistent with the original Spanish Regime design.
- Interior lobbies, stairs, courtyards, and principal rooms are to conform to the original design as much as possible.
- Surrounding sidewalks, streets, and open spaces shall also be restored to their original state.
Oversight and Supervision of Restoration Work
- The Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communication shall carry out the restoration work.
- The Intramuros Restoration Committee, created under LOI No. 733, shall supervise and guide the restoration.
- Restoration plans require approval from the Intramuros Restoration Committee.
Intended Use of the Restored Building
- The second floor of the reconstructed building shall house the National Archives.
- The ground floor shall be used by the Bureau of the Treasury.
- The building's design shall be prepared to accommodate these functions.
Temporary Relocation and Funding for Relocation
- The Commission on Elections and the Bureau of the Treasury must relocate to temporary quarters due to restoration.
- The Minister of the Budget is tasked to release funds for rental payments and acquisition of furniture and equipment to replace items destroyed by fire.
Funding and Financial Provisions for Restoration
- The Minister of the Budget shall also release funds needed for restoration, based on recommendations from the Minister of Public Works, Transportation and Communication and the Intramuros Restoration Committee.
Construction of New Facilities for the Commission on Elections (COMELEC)
- The Minister of Public Works, Transportation and Communications is directed to start constructing a permanent building for COMELEC at the National Government Center, Quezon City.
- The Minister of the Budget shall authorize release of funds from the 1979 Infrastructure Program for national buildings.
Planning for Utilization and Restoration of Other Comelec Buildings
- The Intramuros Restoration Committee shall submit recommendations on the utilization and restoration of Comelec buildings on Oral, Luna and Postigo Streets ahead of COMELEC’s transfer to the Government Center.
Formality of the Directive
- The order was signed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos on February 14, 1979, in Manila, Philippines.
