Renaming San Isidro, Davao del Norte to Sawata

Section 1 renames the Municipality of San Isidro in the Province of Davao del Norte as the Municipality of Sawata.
Section 2 renames the present Barangay Sawata (referred to in Republic Act No. 9265) as Barangay Poblacion.
The renaming covers both local government units: the municipality and the specified barangay.

Section 3 provides that the change of name for the municipality and barangay takes effect upon ratification by the majority of the votes cast by qualified voters.
The ratification must be obtained through separate plebiscites to be conducted and supervised by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
One plebiscite must be held in the present (1) Municipality of San Isidro, Province of Davao del Norte.
The other plebiscite must be held in the present (2) Barangay Sawata, Municipality of San Isidro, Province of Davao del Norte.
Section 3 makes the Municipality of San Isidro, Province of Davao del Norte responsible for the expenses of both plebiscites.

Republic Act No. 11814 amends Republic Act No. 9265 for the purpose of reflecting the renaming of the municipality and barangay.
The barangay renaming in Section 2 explicitly relies on the barangay referenced in Republic Act No. 9265.

The Act originated in the House of Representatives and was passed on August 3, 2021.
The Senate amended the Act on January 31, 2022.
The House of Representatives concurred in the Senate amendments on February 2, 2022.
The Act became law on June 02, 2022 by constitutional lapse under Article VI, Section 27 (1).

The Act takes effect after publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
The effective date is fifteen (15) days after publication.
The renaming of the municipality and barangay becomes operative only after voter ratification in the required COMELEC-supervised plebiscites.
