Legal basis and authority
- Executive Order No. 77 is issued pursuant to Section 68 of the Revised Administrative Code.
- Manuel L. Quezon, President of the Philippines, signed the order.
- Elpidio Quirino, Secretary of the Interior, countersigned the order.
Coverage and territorial reorganization
- Executive Order No. 77 covers the municipal districts in the Province of Zamboanga.
- The order reorganizes the municipal districts of Sindangan, Panganuran, Labangan, Dinas, Sibuko, Sirawai, Margosatubig, Malangas, Kabasalan, and BaAgaan into five municipalities.
- Each resulting municipality is formed by combining specified existing municipal districts and fixing a government seat.
New municipalities created and seats
- The Municipality of Sindangan consists of the territory covered by the present municipal districts of Sindangan and Panganuran, with the seat of government in the barrio of Sindangan.
- The Municipality of Pagadian consists of the territory covered by the present municipal districts of Labangan and Dinas, with the seat of government in the barrio of Pagadian.
- The Municipality of Siocon consists of the territory covered by the present municipal districts of Sibuko and Sirawai, with the seat of government in the barrio of Siocon.
- The Municipality of Margosatubig consists of the territory covered by the present municipal district of Margosatubig and Malangas, with the seat of government in the barrio of Margosatubig.
- The Municipality of Kabasalan consists of the territory covered by the present municipal districts of Kabasalan and BaAgaan, with the seat of government in the barrio of Kabasalan.
Effective date and implementation effect
- The reorganization takes effect on January 1, 1937.
- The order fixes the change in municipal boundaries and government seats to become operative starting that effective date.
