Hospital capacity and building requirements
- The Institute must be at par with a secondary hospital with a capacity of at least fifty (50) beds.
- The Institute must be housed in two (2) new buildings, each with a capacity of at least twenty-five (25) beds.
- The Institute must incorporate the existing facility of the Datu Alawaddin Bandon Hospital into its overall operations.
Two-year phased implementation plan
- The Institute’s establishment must be completed gradually over a two (2)-year period starting from the approval of this Act.
- In the first year, the plan must include the building of a fifty (50)-bed facility in Barangay Hadji Bidin, Municipality of Sibutu.
- In the second year, the plan must include satellite facilities in the other ten (10) municipalities throughout the province.
DOH supervision and research data role
- The Institute must be placed under DOH supervision.
- The Institute must function as a repository of all data for researches on malaria, tropical and infectious diseases.
- The Institute must serve as a base for researches on malaria, tropical and infectious diseases.
DOH program inclusion and funding sources
- The Secretary of Health must immediately include the operationalization of the Malaria, Tropical and Infectious Disease Research and Treatment Institute in the Department’s programs.
- The operationalization must be funded through inclusion in the annual General Appropriations Act.
- The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao must continue to provide funds for the operation of the Datu Aiawaddin Bandon Hospital until its actual integration into the Institute and until the Institute’s funding is included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Effectivity
- Republic Act No. 10043 takes effect upon its approval.
- The Act is approved on March 18, 2010.
