Rationale for Adjusting Subsistence Allowance
- The adjustment in allowance aims to align with the rising prices of food and other essential commodities.
- The increase is also intended to maintain equality in subsistence allowance between PC/INP prisoners and those in the National Penitentiary.
Directive and Implementation
- By virtue of presidential authority, the subsistence allowance for prisoners and detainees under PC/INP custody is increased from Four Pesos (P4.00) to Six Pesos (P6.00) per day.
- The said increase takes immediate effect upon issuance of the Executive Order on October 18, 1981.
Legal Authority and Effectivity
- The President of the Philippines, exercising constitutional powers, issues the order to modify the subsistence allowance.
- The order is signed by the President and attested by the Acting Presidential Executive Assistant, giving it full legal effect immediately.
