Seed Sampling Procedures and Intensity

  • Seed sampling conducted by Deputized Seed Inspectors; Certifying Agency may sample when necessary
  • Random sampling following ISTA Rules for inbred seeds
  • Sampling intensity depends on number of bags per lot, with specific sampling numbers outlined (e.g., 1-9 bags: every bag sampled; 10-15 bags: 10 bags sampled, etc.)
  • Maximum bag limits per lot: 50 bags for Registered Seed, 100 bags for Certified Seed
  • For hybrid seeds:

    • F1 Production: up to 100 bags/lot, sample at least 20 bags (10-20 kgs per bag)

Seed Testing Protocols

  • Samples must be analyzed/tested within 1 to 24 hours after receipt
  • Analysis results must be released within 15 days, barring any quality problems

Tagging Procedures for Certified Seed Lots

  • Tagging must be done or closely supervised by seed inspectors or certifying agency representatives
  • Only seed lots passing certification shall be tagged

  • Guidelines approved and adopted on June 2, 2005, under BPI Administrative Order No. 17, s. 2005
  • Enforced pursuant to the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 7308, the Seed Industry Development Act of 1992
