Composition of the Radiologic Technology Continuing Professional Education Council (RTCPEC)

  • Composed of a Chairman and four members representing the academe, private sector, government sector, and the Board of Radiologic Technology.
  • Consultants include the Chairman of the Board, President of the Philippine Association of Radiologic Technologists (PART), and President of the Association of X-ray and Radiologic Technologists (ASCRT).
  • Chairman and members appointed by the Board from nominees submitted by PART.
  • RTCPEC elects Vice-Chairman and other officers, except Secretary who is appointed.

Qualifications of RTCPEC Officers

  • Chairman: Valid Radiologic Technology license, good standing with PART, at least 10 years in practice or academe, proven management skills, good moral/professional integrity.
  • Members: Valid license, good standing with PART, active association involvement, good moral character, reputable.

Terms of Office

  • Chairman and members serve a 3-year term without renewal.
  • Initial members have staggered terms (3, 2, and 1 year).
  • Vice-Chairman serves at RTCPEC's pleasure.
  • Appointees fill only unexpired terms of predecessors.

Functions and Duties of RTCPEC

  • Promulgate, enforce, and implement CPE rules and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Board and Commission for CPE implementation.
  • Maintain records of CPE units earned by technologists.
  • Collaborate with PART, ASCRT, chapters, and CPE providers.
  • Administer secretariat and manage library resources.
  • Plan and coordinate annual accreditation activities with PART.
  • Assist in organizing seminars and professional events.
  • Evaluate attendance and compliance with professional upgrading activities.
  • Manage issuance and submission of CPE compliance certificates.
  • Maintain permanent records of compliant technologists.
  • Develop modular postgraduate education and correspondence courses.
  • Issue regulations after consultations and prepare annual budgets.

Accreditation Criteria

  • Content must extend beyond basic training and cover technological advancements.
  • Activities must enhance professional skills and competence.
  • Content must relate to Radiologic Technology, radiological sciences, or allied health with emphasis on patient care.
  • May include professionalism, ethics, laws, management, and health supervision topics.

Accredited Lecturers

  • Academe members with at least five years teaching relevant subjects.
  • Practitioners with at least five years specialty experience.
  • Noteworthy experts and industrial lecturers related to Radiologic Technology.
  • Members of ISSRT and international specialists.

Accredited Activities and Credit Units

  • Academic Courses: Graduate courses earn credits based on units completed (e.g., 6 units = 2 credits).
  • Publication: Books (20 credits), articles (3 credits), technical papers (5 credits), reviews (3 credits).
  • Conferences/Seminars: Credits range from 1 to 20 depending on type and role.
  • Other activities: Renewal of PART membership and awards earn 5 credit units each.
  • Correspondence courses: 3 credits per module.

Credit Unit Requirements for License Renewal

  • 60 total CPE units required every three years.
  • 20 units needed at first year of renewal, 40 at second year, and 60 at the third year post-resolution.

Exemptions

  • Permanent exemption for technologists aged 65 and above.
  • Temporary exemption for: RTCPEC officers, Board members, PART officers, ASCRT officers, prolonged illness (certified), and work abroad for at least six months (documented).

Procedures for Program Accreditation

  • All activities require prior RTCPEC approval.
  • Requests must be submitted two months before program date.
  • Submission must include detailed program information (title, objectives, target audience, content, speakers, schedule).
  • RTCPEC assigns corresponding credit units upon accreditation.
  • Accreditation fee is at least 15% of the gross income from participants.

Procedures for Individuals Applying for CPE Credits

  • RTCPEC reserves the right to approve or disapprove based on guidelines.

Effectivity

  • The resolution takes effect one month after publication in a newspaper of general circulation upon Commission approval.
