Division of Lanao del Sur province

The capital of the Province of Maranaw is the City of Marawi.
The capital of the Province of Lanao del Sur is the Municipality of Malabang.

Except as otherwise provided, all provisions of law applicable to regular provinces apply to the Provinces of Maranaw and Lanao del Sur.

The new provinces come into existence upon the election and qualification of their first elective provincial officials.
The first elective provincial officials are elected in a special election conducted simultaneously with the general elections of November, nineteen hundred and seventy-three.

For the special election, the provincial board of canvassers of the present Province of Lanao del Sur serves as the provincial board of canvassers for the provinces created by this Act.

For purposes of congressional representation and provincial elections, the City of Marawi is included in the Province of Maranaw.

The funds, obligations, and assets of all kinds of the present Province of Lanao del Sur existing at effectivity are divided and distributed between Maranaw and Lanao del Sur.
The division is made in proportion to the total income of the municipalities comprising each province for the fiscal years nineteen hundred seventy-two and nineteen hundred seventy-three.
If an obligation was contracted to finance a project located in one of the two new provinces, that province is responsible exclusively for such obligation.

Present employees of the present Province of Lanao del Sur whose salaries are paid out of provincial funds are assigned to one of the two provinces based on the municipality wherein the employees are registered voters and actually voted in the general elections of nineteen hundred sixty-nine.
Employees who do not fall under the voting/registration basis are assigned to the Province of Lanao del Sur.
