Technical Description and Boundaries
- The law provides precise technical descriptions and geographic coordinates defining the boundaries of the ecotourism zone.
- The zone includes specified barangays in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
- The total area covered is approximately 395.25 hectares.
Tourism Development Plan Preparation
- Within one year of the law’s approval, the DOT must prepare a comprehensive tourism development plan.
- The plan involves construction, installation, and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure to enhance tourism.
- Preservation and conservation of the natural beauty and resources of the area must be ensured.
- Coordination with local government units and relevant government agencies is required.
Implementation and Integration into Tourism Programs
- The DOT and its attached agencies are tasked to immediately implement the development plan tailored to the natural characteristics of the zone.
- The ecotourism zone must be included in all national, regional, and local tourism promotion programs.
Funding and Inclusion in Department Programs
- The Secretary of DOT shall include the implementation of the Act in the Department’s program.
- Funding will be provided through the annual General Appropriations Act and DOT’s internally generated funds.
Rules and Regulations Promulgation
- The Secretary of DOT, in consultation with the Candon local government, will promulgate necessary rules and regulations within 60 days from the law’s effectivity.
- These rules are for proper implementation and enforcement of the Act.
Amendment of Inconsistent Laws
- All laws, rules, regulations, proclamations, executive orders or any parts inconsistent with this Act are amended accordingly.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect 15 days after publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
