Arthur C. Yap, Secretary of Agriculture, declares Regions III (except Aurora), IV-A, and the National Capital Region as Foot and Mouth Disease Free Zones where vaccination is practiced, following a two-year absence of the disease and in alignment with national policies for livestock health and trade.

Previous FMD-Free Zone Declarations

  • Mindanao, Visayas, Palawan, and Masbate were declared FMD Free Zones without vaccination by the OIE in 2001 and 2002.
  • Provinces in Regions II, IV-B, and V in Luzon were declared FMD Free Zones without vaccination in 2004.
  • In 2005, Region I, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Aurora in Region III were declared FMD Free Zones with vaccination.
