Government seat and territorial boundaries
- Section 2 sets the seat of government of the new municipality in Barangay Bien Unido.
- Section 3 defines the boundaries of the Municipality of Bien Unido through a metes-and-bounds description starting from the intersection of Cambanha Creek, Nueva Esperanza, Talibon and Ipil River (point 1).
- Section 3 specifies boundary segments using bearings, distances, and named features (including points at Suba River, source of Suba River, Atuay Creek, stock, and Nacon Hill).
- Section 3 states an approximate total area of 30,885.00 hectares.
Conditions for existence and plebiscite
- Section 4 provides that the new municipality begins to exist only after approval by the majority of the votes cast in a plebiscite.
- Section 4 requires the Commission on Elections to conduct the plebiscite in the barangays enumerated under Section one.
- Section 4 sets the plebiscite timeline as within one hundred and twenty (120) days from the approval of this Act.
- Section 4 requires that plebiscite expenses be paid from appropriations provided for by the local government unit concerned.
Application of municipal laws
- Section 5 provides that all laws applicable to regular municipalities, whether now or hereafter, apply to the new Municipality of Bien Unido.
- Section 5 limits this application except as herein provided, so the special provisions of this Act govern where they differ.
First officials and organization period
- Section 6 provides that the first officials of the newly created municipality shall be appointed by the President (Prime Minister).
- Section 6 provides that these appointive officials hold office until their successors shall have been elected and qualified.
- Section 6 requires that necessary additional appointive officials and employees for organizing and completing the municipal government machinery be appointed as provided by law.
Enactment, effectivity, and approval
- The law is Batas Pambansa Blg. 93, titled “AN ACT CREATING THE MUNICIPALITY OF BIEN UNIDO IN THE PROVINCE OF BOHOL.”
- The law is approved on December 24, 1980.
- Section 7 provides that the Act takes effect upon its approval.
