The title of the law is 'An Act Creating the Municipality of Bien Unido in the Province of Bohol,' also known as Batas Pambansa Blg. 93, approved on December 24, 1980.
The barangays that comprise the Municipality of Bien Unido are Bien Unido, Tuboran, Mandawa, Nueva Estrella, Nueva Esperanza, Puerto San Pedro, Sagasa, Pinamgo, Bilangbilangan Daku, Bilangbilangan Diyot, Hingotanan, Maomaoan, Malingin, and Barangay Liberty in Trinidad.
These barangays were separated from the municipalities of Talibon and Trinidad in the Province of Bohol.
The seat of government of the Municipality of Bien Unido is Barangay Bien Unido.
The boundary is described by specific geographic points and distances starting from Cambanha Creek in Nueva Esperanza and enclosing an area of approximately 30,885 hectares with details of coordinates and landmarks.
It will begin to exist after approval by a majority of the votes cast in a plebiscite conducted in the affected barangays within 120 days from the approval of the Act.
The plebiscite will be conducted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The expenses shall be paid out of appropriations provided by the local government unit concerned.
All laws applicable to regular municipalities now or hereafter shall apply to the Municipality of Bien Unido except for special provisions in this Act.
The first officials shall be appointed by the President (or Prime Minister) and shall hold office until their successors are elected and qualified.
Such officials and employees necessary to organize and complete the government machinery shall be appointed as provided by law.
The Act takes effect upon its approval on December 24, 1980.
