President Ferdinand E. Marcos issued Presidential Decree No. 339, creating three new municipalities in Sultan Kudarat, Philippines, with appointed officials until the next general elections.

Creation of President Quirino municipality

  • The following barrios are separated from the Municipality of Buluan, Province of Maguindanao, and constituted into a distinct and independent municipality: Bagumbayan, Bannawag, Bayawa, Estrella, Kalanawe I, Kalanawe II, Katiko, Malingon, Mangelen, Mangilala, Pidtubo, Sambulawan, Sinaculay, Suben, Tinangan, Tual, Tuwato.
  • The new municipality is known as the Municipality of President Quirino in the Province of Sultan Kudarat.
  • The seat of government of the new municipality is in the present site of the barrio of Sambulawan.
  • Section 1 establishes the separation and constitution of the new municipality and fixes its seat.

  • The following barrios are separated from the Municipality of Sultan sa Barongis, Province of Maguindanao, and constituted into a distinct and independent municipality: Caridad, Didtaras, Gansing, Kabulakan, Kapingkong, Katitisan, Lagao, Lilit, Madanding, Maligaya, Mamali, Matiompong, Midtapok, New Cebu, Pidtiguian, Pinguiaman, Pimbalayan, Poblacion, Ponol, Sadsalan, Senaban, Sigayan, Tinomiguez, Torre, Tambak, Tumiao, Udtong and Palumbi.
  • The new municipality is known as the Municipality of Mariano Marcos in the Province of Sultan Kudarat.
  • The seat of government in the new municipality is in the present site of the barrio of Poblacion.
  • Section 2 establishes the separation and constitution of the new municipality and fixes its seat.

Creation of Esperanza municipality

  • The following barrios are separated from the Municipality of Ampatuan, Province of Maguindanao, and constituted into a distinct and independent municipality: Ala, Banaba, Daladap, Ducay, Esperanza, Guimalia, Ilian, Kamasi, Kangkong, Kauran, Kayakaya, Maranding, Mao, Margues, Matagobong, New Panay, Numo, Pamadtingan, Sagasa, Salabaca, Saniag, Sugadol, Talisawa, Tomicor, Tubak, Tukana-logong and Villamor.
  • The new municipality is known as the Municipality of Esperanza in the Province of Sultan Kudarat.
  • The seat of government of the new municipality is in the present site of the barrio of Esperanza.
  • Section 3 establishes the separation and constitution of the new municipality and fixes its seat.

Appointments and tenure of local officials

  • The President shall appoint the respective mayors, vice-mayors and councilors of the three newly created municipalities.
  • The appointed officials shall hold office until their successors shall have been elected in the next general elections for local officials and shall have qualified.
  • Section 4 governs the appointment authority and the duration of the interim officials’ tenure.
