Ratification and Appointment of Barangay Officials
- The creation of Barangay Bagong Nayon is subject to ratification by a majority of votes in a plebiscite.
- The plebiscite must be conducted within 120 days from the approval of the Act.
- Upon ratification, the President of the Philippines will appoint the first barangay officials.
- These appointed officials will hold office until their successors are elected and qualified during the next regular barangay elections.
Conduct and Funding of Plebiscite
- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is tasked with conducting and supervising the plebiscite.
- Expenses incurred for the plebiscite will be charged to the appropriations allocated to COMELEC under the current annual General Appropriations Act earmarked for plebiscites.
Effectivity of the Act
- The Act takes effect immediately upon its approval on April 27, 1984.
