Benefits to Filipino Centenarians

  • Filipino centenarians receive a Letter of Felicitation from the President commending their longevity.
  • They are granted a cash gift amounting to One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P100,000.00).

National Respect for Centenarians Day

  • Declares the first Sunday of October, within the Elderly Filipino Week (October 1 to 7), as National Respect for Centenarians Day.
  • On this day, centenarians who turned 100 in the current fiscal year are awarded:
    • A plaque of recognition.
    • A cash incentive determined by their respective city or municipal government.
    • The Letter of Felicitation and Centenarian Gift as per Section 2.

Recognition of Older Surviving and Deceased Centenarians

  • Living centenarians who reached 100 years before the Act's effectivity will be honored during the first National Respect for Centenarians Day or within 120 days from the Act’s effectivity, whichever is earlier.
  • They will receive:
    • A plaque of recognition.
    • The Centenarian Gift (P100,000.00).
  • Posthumous plaques of recognition will be presented to the nearest surviving relatives of deceased centenarians during the same event.
  • The event shall be observed as a national event.

Funding Sources

  • The initial funding for the implementation of the Act will come from the available funds of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
  • Subsequent funding will be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

Implementing Rules and Regulations

  • Within 30 days from the Act’s effectivity, the Secretaries of DSWD, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and the Executive Director of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas will:
    • Promulgate necessary guidelines for implementing the Act.
    • Lead efforts for its effective implementation.

Repealing Clause

  • All laws, decrees, executive orders, rules, and regulations inconsistent with the provisions of this Act are repealed, amended, or modified accordingly.

Effectivity of the Act

  • The Act will take effect fifteen (15) days after publication in the Official Gazette or in at least two newspapers of general circulation.
  • Publication must occur not later than seven (7) days after approval of the Act.
