The short title of Republic Act No. 10868 is the "Centenarians Act of 2016".
All Filipinos who reach the age of one hundred (100) years old, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, are entitled to the benefits and privileges under the Act.
Filipino centenarians shall be honored with (a) a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines, and (b) a Centenarian Gift amounting to one hundred thousand pesos (P100,000.00).
The National Respect for Centenarians Day is declared on the first Sunday of October, as part of the annual Elderly Filipino Week, October 1 to 7.
All Filipinos who have turned centenarian in the current fiscal year shall be awarded a plaque of recognition and a cash incentive by their respective city or municipal governments, in addition to the Letter of Felicitation and Centenarian Gift.
The local government unit (city or municipal governments) concerned shall determine the amount of the cash incentive.
They shall be honored during the first National Respect for Centenarians Day or within one hundred twenty (120) days after the effectivity of the Act, whichever comes earlier, with a plaque of recognition and the Centenarian Gift of P100,000.00 in appropriate ceremonies observed as a national event.
Posthumous plaques of recognition shall be presented to the nearest surviving relative of each deceased centenarian during the first National Respect for Centenarians Day or within the specified period after the Act's effectivity.
During the initial year of implementation, the funds shall be sourced from the available funds of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The amount necessary to implement the Act shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act thereafter.
The Secretaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Health, and the Executive Director of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
Within thirty (30) days from the effectivity of the Act.
They are repealed, amended, or modified accordingly.
It took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation, which shall not be later than seven (7) days after its approval on June 23, 2016.
