Coverage and Compliance Requirements
- Applies to all manufacturers, distributors, importers, and retailers of the specified plastic furniture.
- Obligates these entities to strictly comply with the specifications outlined in PNS 1478:1998.
Certification and Commodity Clearance
- Requires manufacturers to obtain third-party certification called the PS Quality Certification Mark from the Bureau of Product Standards (BPS).
- Importers must secure a commodity clearance from BPS as a prerequisite for shipment clearance by the Bureau of Customs.
Implementation Guidelines and Designation of Competent Bodies
- Empowers BPS to issue implementing guidelines, including timetables that consider inventory and capacity.
- Allows BPS to designate competent organizations to assist with product inspection, testing, and market monitoring.
Coordination with Other Government Agencies
- Directs coordinated implementation efforts involving the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at the regional and provincial levels and the Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection.
Repealing Clause
- Repeals or amends any previous orders inconsistent with this Administrative Order.
Effectivity and Access to Standards
- Takes effect fifteen (15) days post-publication in two widely circulated newspapers.
- Provides access to copies of the standard through the BPS Standards Data Center.
