Scope of Accreditation Allowed
- Existing and new maritime training institutions may now apply only for accreditation of specific new courses mandated by the 2010 STCW Manila Amendments.
Specific Courses Allowed for Accreditation
- Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-1, paras 1 & 2).
- Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-1, paras 3 & 4).
- Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-1, paras 5 & 6).
- Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-2, paras 1 & 2).
- Advanced Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations (Reg. V/1-2, paras 3 & 4).
- Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (Section A-VI/6 para. 6) with Security Awareness Training (Section A-VI/6, para 4).
- Able Seafarer Deck (Reg. II/5).
- Able Seafarer Engine (Reg. III/5).
- Electro-technical Officer (Reg. III/6).
- Electro-technical Ratings (Reg. III/7).
Treatment of Pending Applications
- Pending applications for accreditation of new courses filed after the initial moratorium will still be considered by MARINA.
Effectivity and Supersession
- The advisory takes effect 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
- The previous advisory (MARINA Advisory No. 2012-14, Series of 2012) is hereby superseded or modified accordingly.
