Municipal Elections and Transition of Government Officials

  • Elections for officials of the newly constituted municipalities shall be conducted according to Act No. 730, as amended by Act No. 928.
  • Upon qualification and oath-taking of the newly elected officials, the existing municipal organizations (except those municipalities preserved with their boundaries) shall be abolished.
  • All present municipal offices in abolished municipalities become vacant and cease to exist.
  • Until the new officials assume office, the existing municipal administrations shall remain functional to ensure continuity.

  • The expedited approval is done pursuant to the legislative procedure established under an earlier act dated September 26, 1900.
