Act No. 952 reduces the number of municipalities in the Province of Cebu from fifty-seven to forty-one, specifying the new municipalities and their territories, and addressing municipal elections and transition.

Composition and Seat of Municipal Governments

  • Each new municipality will comprise the territories of the combined former municipalities.
  • The seat of government for each merged municipality is located at the original seat of the main municipality listed.

Municipal Elections and Abolishment of Previous Offices

  • Municipal elections shall be conducted according to the rules in Act No. 730, as amended by Act No. 928.

  • All previous municipal offices and positions in the merged municipalities are abolished immediately upon qualification of the new officials.
  • Until new officials are qualified, the existing municipal organization remains in effect.
