Language Proficiency Requirement
- Applicant must be able to read, speak, and understand English.
Medical Certificate Requirement
- Applicant must hold a current Class 2 Medical Certificate prior to solo flight.
Pre-solo Flight Instruction
- Applicant must have received and logged flight training for prescribed maneuvers and procedures (as listed in IS 2.3.3.1).
- Applicant must demonstrate satisfactory proficiency and safety in these maneuvers and procedures, as judged by an authorized instructor.
Ground Training Requirements for Solo Flight
- An authorized student pilot must have received and logged ground training from an authorized instructor covering:
- Applicable sections of Part 2 and Part 8 of the regulations.
- Airspace rules and procedures specific to the airport where the solo flight will be performed.
- Flight characteristics and operational limitations for the specific make and model of aircraft to be flown.
Solo Flight Authorization
- Student pilot must be authorized by a flight instructor before undertaking solo flight.
- Must hold at least a Class 2 Medical Certificate.
Effectivity and Supersession
- These amendments are part of PCAR Part 2, series of 2013, effective immediately upon publication and filing with the U.P. Law Center - Office of the National Administrative Register.
- They supersede any conflicting prior memoranda, regulations, and directives.
