Purpose and service standardization
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 is issued in the interest of the service.
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 standardizes the verification and mapping procedures for national parks and other protected areas.
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 amends DENR Administrative Order No. 72 (1990) to expressly cover surveying and mapping actions needed for protected areas.
Coverage: national parks and protected areas
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 covers surveying and mapping of proposed national parks or protected areas.
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 covers relocation or delimitation surveys of existing national parks and other protected area boundaries.
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 requires monumentation of boundaries for national parks and other protected areas.
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 prescribes standard map sizes and scales for specified protected-area map types.
Survey of proposed national parks
- Survey of proposed national parks or protected areas must be conducted by the Land Classification Survey Team assigned in the Regional Offices.
- The Land Classification Survey Team shall start the survey only upon issuance of the survey authority by the Regional Executive Director.
- Survey issuance of authority must be based on an evaluation report of Regional field personnel and the PAWB.
- The survey must be plotted by the LC Team using their usual procedures.
- The Regional Office shall forward the original map with technical description to the DENR for approval by the Secretary.
Relocation/delimitation of existing boundaries
- Relocation or delimitation survey of national parks and other protected area boundaries must be done by NAMRIA.
- NAMRIA must base the relocation or delimitation survey on the technical description in the Proclamation.
Boundary monumentation requirements
- The boundaries of national parks and other protected areas must be marked permanently with concrete monuments on the ground.
- Concrete monuments must have a size of 15 x 15 x 50 cm.
- Monumentation must be done by the party conducting the survey.
Standard map size and scale
- National Park map size is variable and the scale must be 1:50,000.
- Marine Park map must use a size variable (same as the National Park map entry) and a scale of 1:50,000.
- Marine Reserve map must use a size variable (same as the National Park map entry) and a scale of 1:50,000.
- Game Refuge and Bird Sanctuary map must use a size variable (same as the National Park map entry) and a scale of 1:50,000.
- Municipal/ Barangay Tree Park maps must be 21 x 33 cm in size and must use a scale of 1:500.
Implementation effectivity
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 takes effect immediately.
- DENR Administrative Order No. 72-1 adopts the enumerated protected-area surveying and mapping rules for integration into the amended DENR Administrative Order No. 72 (1990) framework.
