Legal Authority and Examination Scheduling
- The Board is empowered by Section 16 of Republic Act No. 5680 (Physical and Occupational Therapy Law) to determine the scope and schedule of examination subjects under Section 15(e).
- Previously, Subjects I and II were examined on the first day, and Subject III on the second day of the licensure exam.
Integration and Clustering of Subject III
- Subject III is consolidated into one subject to be examined on a single day.
- This integration facilitates the conduct of the examination and allows the inclusion of additional relevant areas, topics, or concepts pertaining to occupational therapy.
Adoption of Amendments and New Subject III Syllabus
- After consultations with academic institutions and other stakeholders, the Board formally adopted these changes.
- The new Subject III, "Applications of Occupational Therapy," continues to carry 60% weight in the examination.
- The syllabus now includes:
- Original topics from Subject III in Board Resolution No. 6, Series 1985,
- Additional topics not previously covered, specifically:
- Evaluation and Management of Psychosocial Dysfunctions
- Evaluation and Management of Physical Disabilities
- Updated practices in Occupational Therapy
Implementation and Dissemination
- The resolution takes effect fifteen (15) days after publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation.
- Copies of the resolution are to be distributed to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), deans of relevant educational institutions, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) central and regional offices to ensure dissemination.
