Q&A (PRC BOARD OF PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY BOARD Resolution NO. 16, SERIES 2004)

The amendment clusters and integrates the subjects under Subject III (Occupational Therapy Treatment Program, and Organization and Administration in Rehabilitation) into one single subject called 'Applications of Occupational Therapy' with a weight of 60%, to be conducted in one day.

Subject III consisted of 'Occupational Therapy Treatment Program, and Organization and Administration in Rehabilitation' with a weight of 60% in the Occupational Therapist Licensure Examination.

The Board is empowered under Section 16 of R.A. No. 5680, also known as the 'Physical and Occupational Therapy Law' to determine the scope and schedule of examination subjects.

1) Anatomy, Kinesiology, and Physiology - 20%, 2) General Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic Neurological conditions - 20%, 3) Occupational Therapy Treatment Program, and Organization and Administration in Rehabilitation - 60%.

The integration facilitates the conduct of the licensure examination and allows the inclusion of other areas, topics, or concepts of occupational therapy under one subject.

The additional topics include 1) Occupational Therapy Applications - Evaluation and Management of Psychosocial Dysfunctions, 2) Occupational Therapy Application - Evaluation and Management of Physical Disabilities, and 3) Updates on occupational therapy practice.

This resolution shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or in any newspaper of general circulation.

Copies must be distributed to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Deans of Schools/College/Universities offering occupational therapy, concerned PRC Central Office/Division, and PRC Regional Offices for dissemination to all concerned.

It allows the Board to update and modernize the licensure examination to reflect current practices and educational standards in the field of occupational therapy.

It was adopted by the Board members Teresita Joy P. Evangelista (Chairman), Raul G. Agustin, Bernadette M. Reyes, Marylyn B. Querouz, Eduardo Miguel M. Sison. It was attested by Carlos G. Almelon, Secretary, Professional Regulatory Boards, and approved by PRC Chairperson Antonieta Fortuna-Ibe and Commissioners Avelina Dela Rea-Tan and Leonor Tripon-Rosero.
