Workaround Procedures Pending System Adjustment for New Plate Format
- Until the registration system can accommodate the new plate format, certain manual procedures must be implemented.
- After the release of actual plates to the registered vehicle, the Department of Land Transportation Office (D.O.) must file a Request for System Update (RSU).
- The RSU is intended to update the Temporary Plate ending to correspond with the ending of the actual plate issued.
- This procedure applies only if the temporary plate ending and the actual plate ending differ.
Additional RSU Procedure to Align Next Registration Date
- The same RSU should be used to adjust the vehicle’s next registration date.
- The next registration date must be set to the last day of the month preceding the actual registration month.
- Example: If the vehicle’s registration is due in April 2014, the RSU sets the next registration date to March 31, 2014.
RSU Data Format and Example
- The RSU can contain multiple records in an attachment with three columns:
- System Assigned Temporary Plate Number
- Ending digits of the Actual Plate Issued
- Next Registration Date (last day of the preceding month of actual registration)
- Example provided:
- Actual Plate Issued in Region I: AAK-1024
- Temporary Plate Number: 0101-01
- Temporary Plate with last two digits matching actual plate: 0101-24
- Next Registration Date: 31 March 2014
Emphasis on Compliance
- The memorandum stresses strict compliance with these procedures to ensure uniformity and avoid doubts in the assignment of plate numbers and collection of MVUC.
- The Assistant Secretary of the LTO promulgated this guidance as an addendum to the memorandum dated June 6, 2014.
