It splits “Science” into two fields of specialization—Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences—for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LET), Secondary Level, and provides that examinations be given in both fields.
Board Resolution No. 95-01, series of 1995, which adopted Science as a field of specialization in the LET for the Secondary level.
Because examinees with Science as a field of specialization reportedly had difficulty passing due to having to study three (3) more subjects in addition to their major subject.
Consultations with the Deans of Colleges of Education; representatives from CHED, DECS, PAFTE, SUCTEA; and experts and institutions including NISMED, SEI, DOST, and science professors and experts.
Teachers who major in Biology and Environmental Science take Biological Sciences.
Teachers who major in Physics, Chemistry, and General Science take Physical Science.
Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences.
The questions must be within the scope of the syllabi for the subjects as contained in the attached Annex A, made an integral part of the Resolution.
Starting in August 2001.
It shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its complete publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, whichever comes earlier.
It adopts the syllabi of the subjects contained in the document hereto attached as Annex A, which is integral to the Resolution.
Copies must be furnished to all teacher training institutions, CHED, and DECS.
Instead of taking “Science” as one combined field, they will take either Biological Sciences or Physical Sciences depending on their major/specialization.
It specifies the publication and 15-day rule for effectivity, linking the validity and enforceability of the Resolution to the required publication.
