A Tourism-Related Establishment is any establishment or enterprise not licensed, nor directly supervised and regulated by the Department of Tourism but which caters incidentally to both foreign and local travelers and tourists.
The motel, except existing ones, must be located along or close to highways or major transportation routes and have at least ten (10) units.
Each unit must have a fully air-conditioned bedroom or at least an electric fan, comfortable beds with clean pillows, linen and bed sheets, an attached toilet and bathroom with cold and hot water, clean towels, tissue paper, soap, and a telephone or call-bell.
No motel shall accept any person below 18 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Guests must provide their full name, address, and the number, date, and place of issue of a Residence Certificate Class 'A,' Driver's License, or Passport.
A pension must have at least five (5) lettable rooms.
Comfort rooms must have good quality fixtures and fittings with running water, floors and walls covered with impervious materials, and shall be kept clean and sanitary at all times. Tissue paper, soap, paper towels, and/or hand drier must be provided.
Motels must display a signboard showing clearly the name or style outside the establishment in a conspicuous place. Shops must have attractively designed entrance and display windows, adequately illuminated.
The Certificate of Accreditation is issued if the applicant complies with minimum standards, is valid for one year from the date of issue unless revoked or canceled, and shall be displayed conspicuously. It is non-transferable.
If defects or deficiencies are not remedied within a reasonable time after notification, the Department of Tourism may revoke the Certificate of Accreditation of the establishment.
Keepers, managers, or operators must exert efforts not to permit prostitutes, pedophiles, or persons of bad character to occupy rooms or enter the premises and must report their presence to the nearest police station.
Applicants must submit certified true copies of Articles of Incorporation or Partnership, by-laws or Business Name Certificates, latest income tax return and audited financial statements (except new establishments), and lists of officials and employees including permits for foreign workers.
Accreditation shall be renewed annually on or before its expiration date.
Restaurants must offer quality cuisine of good presentation suitable for tourists, use raw food meeting government and international standards, and provide a clean and presentable menu book or card with logical sequencing of menu items available on a best-effort basis.
Restaurants must employ an adequate number of well-trained, well-groomed, experienced, efficient, and courteous staff.
