Q&A (PPA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 26-2003)

DOTC Department Order No. 2003-42 calls for the revocation of DOTC Department Order Nos. 2002-26, 2002-46, and Special Order No. 2002-47, effectively canceling previous orders concerning the implementation of joint inspections for vessels in the domestic trade.

DOTC Department Order Nos. 2002-26, 2002-46, and Special Order No. 2002-47 were revoked.

The revoked DOTC Department Order No. 2002-26 contained the Rules and Regulations in the implementation of DOTC Department Order No. 2002-46.

Special Order No. 2002-47 created the MARINA-PCG-PPA Joint Inspection Task Force for vessels in the domestic trade.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is now solely responsible for the safety inspection of all types and sizes of transport watercrafts/ships carrying passengers and/or cargoes in the domestic trade.

PPA Special Order No. 853-2002 dated 17 October 2002, which designated PPA officials as members of the Joint Inspection Team, was revoked.

The Philippine Coast Guard is tasked to undertake the safety inspection of all types and sizes of transport watercrafts and ships carrying passengers and/or cargoes engaged in domestic trade.
