PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1198

: The State policy is to create, develop, maintain and improve conditions under which man can be most productive and to ensure an environmental quality that enhances dignity and well-being.
: All individuals, partnerships, or corporations engaged in the exploration, development, and exploitation of natural resources or in the construction of infrastructure projects.
: Activities including mining, quarrying, construction of dams, irrigational systems, roads and bridges, and other infrastructure projects as well as similar or related operations.
: They are required to restore, rehabilitate, and return the lands, rivers, and natural environment affected by their operations to their original conditions as much as possible.
: The Secretary of Natural Resources.
: They are repealed or modified accordingly to the extent of the conflict or inconsistency.
: It took effect immediately upon its signing on September 19, 1977.
: It means returning the affected lands, rivers, and natural environment to their original conditions as they were before the operations or activities.
