Q&A (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 29)

The National Disaster Consciousness Month (NDCM) has been renamed as the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM).

The National Disaster Resilience Month is observed throughout the whole month of July every year.

The focus has shifted from disaster awareness building to disaster resilience, emphasizing the ability to adapt to and recover from hazards and disasters.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is the lead agency responsible.

The four thematic areas are disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and disaster rehabilitation and recovery.

The Regional DRRM Councils, Local DRRM Councils, and Barangay DRRM Committees ensure the implementation of these programs and activities.

Republic Act No. 10121, or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, mandates their establishment.

The NDRRMF envisions "safer, adaptive and disaster resilient Filipino communities towards sustainable development."

The NDRRMC is authorized to call upon any department, agency, office, instrumentality, private sector, and civil service organizations for assistance in discharging its functions.

If any part or section is held unconstitutional or invalid, the other sections or provisions not affected shall remain in full force and effect.
