QuestionsQuestions (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 79)
Executive Order No. 79 (August 12, 1947). Its main purpose is to organize certain barrios of the Municipality of Sindangan, Province of Zamboanga, into an independent municipality named Labason.
The barrios of Labason and La Libertad were segregated from Sindangan and organized into the independent municipality of Labason.
The seat of government is in the barrio of Labason.
The organization took effect on January 1, 1948.
Labason’s eastern boundary is the entire course of the Patawag River, separating it from Sindangan, as shown in the approved map of Sindangan prepared on July 19, 1947.
Labason’s southern boundary is the existing boundary with Kabasalan, as determined by the present Sindangan–Kabasalan boundary.
Its southwestern boundary is the existing boundary line between the municipalities of Sindangan and Siocon.
Sindangan’s territory shall consist of its present territory minus the territory comprised in the municipality of Labason.
The recommendation came from the Secretary of the Interior.
A map of Sindangan prepared on July 19, 1947 by the Instrument-Surveyman and submitted to and approved by the district engineer of Zamboanga.
They were nine municipalities; the executive order increased them to ten by segregating barrios from Sindangan to form Labason.
It is cited as the basis for how the municipalities in Zamboanga were established, which the executive order modifies by increasing the number of municipalities through segregation.
It helps establish the exact boundary lines and supports the validity/clarity of the territorial description used to delineate the new municipality.
Executive Orders No. 77 (1936) and No. 353 (1941) are mentioned as earlier actions affecting the municipalities’ establishment; they provide historical legal context for the number and organization of Zamboanga municipalities before EO 79.
