The purpose of Executive Order No. 229 is to create the Mindanao Peace and Development Fund (MPDF) to promote the development of conflict-affected areas in Mindanao outside the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) through socio-economic projects.

The beneficiaries are disadvantaged conflict-affected and influenced communities in Mindanao outside the ARMM.

The remaining funds and assets of the SPDA including its subsidiaries and projects are transferred to the MPDF.

It takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in a national newspaper of general circulation.
