To prescribe guidelines on the issuance of different motor vehicle plate numbers to vehicles whose classification is changed (or reverted), ensuring efficient use of available plate numbers and preventing the practice of reusing the same letter-number combination as the previous private plate.
They are permanently assigned based on the vehicle’s classification, covering Private, For Hire, Government, and Diplomatic.
A new set of plates with numbers and letters different from the previous plate number must be permanently assigned to the vehicle under the new classification.
The previously assigned motor vehicle license plate is re-issued to the vehicle.
It applies to all cases of change classification from Private to For Hire/Government/Diplomatic and vice-versa, per Section 2(c).
To avoid the earlier practice of issuing plates to converted vehicles bearing letters and numbers identical to their private plate numbers, and to ensure correct permanent assignment according to classification.
Any available number plates shall be issued.
Additional registration fee must be collected.
For easy monitoring and control, so that the surrendered plates and the District Office where they were turned in are indicated on the Certificate of Registration and Official Receipt.
On the Certificate of Registration and the Official Receipt of payment.
It should be typed/placed on the portion labeled “Previous Plate No.” in the Certificate of Registration, as illustrated by Example 3 (with the previous plate number and its code indicated).
The number plates of a motor vehicle whose classification has been changed must be surrendered to the LTO District Office where the change classification was effected.
Date, File No., Plate No., CR No., Motor No., and Chassis No., for record and verification purposes.
All orders, memoranda, and other issuances in conflict are superseded, amended, or modified accordingly.
Immediately upon adoption/issuance, as stated in Section 7(a).
