Q&A (Republic Act No. 11287)

The main purpose of Republic Act No. 11287 is to increase the bed capacity of the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center (ARMMC) in Marikina from 300 to 500 beds, upgrade its service facilities and professional health care, and appropriate funds for these improvements.

The authorized bed capacity of ARMMC is increased from three hundred (300) to five hundred (500) beds.

The Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Budget and Management and the Civil Service Commission, determines the additional plantilla positions to be created and filled up at ARMMC.

The upgrading of ARMMC's existing hospital facilities and professional health care services must conform with and be commensurate to the increase in its bed capacity.

The increase in bed capacity and the upgrading of facilities shall be implemented consistent with the hospital's five-year development plan.

The Secretary of Health is responsible for immediately including the implementation of this Act in the Department of Health's programs.

The funding shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

If any provision or part of the Act is declared unconstitutional, the remaining provisions unaffected shall remain in full force and effect.

RA 11287 further amends Republic Act No. 7209, as amended by Republic Act No. 9419.

RA 11287 took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
