Republic Act No. 9257, also known as An Act Granting Additional Benefits and Privileges to Senior Citizens, amending Republic Act No. 7432.

Senior citizens are entitled to a 20% discount on fares for public railways (LRT, MRT, PNR, Skyways) and public utility vehicles such as buses (PUB), jeepneys (PUJ), taxis, and shuttle services (AUV).

The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), Philippine National Railways (PNR), Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Identification card issued by City or Municipal Mayor or Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), or barangay captain; passport of the senior citizen; or other documents establishing Filipino citizenship and age of at least 60 years.

A full 20% discount on the total taxi fare is given regardless of the number of companions the senior citizen has.

The 20% discount is applied based on the fare amount corresponding to the senior citizen only.

First offense: P2,500; Second offense: P3,500; Third offense: P5,000 and/or cancellation of franchise at the Board's discretion.

It took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
