Republic Act No. 5777 is an Act creating the Municipality of Tomas Oppus in the Province of Southern Leyte.

The barrios of San Isidro, Punong, Hinapo, Rizal, Maslog, Banday, Cambite, Cabascan, Cawayan, Ana-hawan, Carnaga, Maanyag, Tinago, and Salvacion were separated from Malitbog.

The seat of government shall be in the present site of the barrio of San Isidro.

The boundaries begin at the mouth of the Canumay Stream on the shoreline of Sogod Bay, following upstream to the municipal boundaries of Malitbog and Matalom, then northwards along the boundaries between Malitbog and Matalom to the intersection with Bontoc, following the Higosoan River downstream to its mouth at Sogod Bay, and then along the marine waters pursuant to the Revised Administrative Code to the point of beginning.

They shall be elected in the next general elections following the creation of the municipality.

The Act took effect upon its approval on June 21, 1969.
