Q&A (PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 1490)

The main purpose of Presidential Decree No. 1490 is to create Barangay Sta. Lucia in the Municipality of Pasig, Metro-Manila, to accelerate socio-economic development and provide closer supervision by local officials in the area.

The subdivisions detached from Barangay Rosario to form Barangay Sta. Lucia were Marietta-Romeo Village, De Castro Subdivision, Rosario Complex, Riverside Village, Sta. Lucia GSIS Village, Countryside Village, Rosario V-VI Village, Rosario GSIS Village, and Rosario Juliana Subdivision.

No, the creation of Barangay Sta. Lucia does not affect the legal existence of the mother barangay, Barangay Rosario.

The present elective barangay officials of Barangay Rosario continue to perform their duties in Barangay Sta. Lucia until appointed officials are designated by the President.

Appointed barangay officials hold office until successors are elected in regular barangay elections following the issuance of the decree and have qualified, unless they are removed sooner at the pleasure of the President.

The additional officers and employees necessary to organize or complete the government personnel of Barangay Sta. Lucia shall be appointed as provided under existing laws.

The proportionate share of Barangay Sta. Lucia in the obligations, funds, assets, and other property of Barangay Rosario shall be transferred by the President upon the recommendation of the Commission on Audit.

All laws, parts of laws, executive orders, or regulations inconsistent with Presidential Decree No. 1490 are repealed or modified accordingly.
