Executive Order No. 588, dated April 30, 1953, created the municipality of Karomatan in the Province of Lanao.
The municipality of Karomatan was created pursuant to the provisions of section sixty-eight of the Revised Administrative Code and upon the recommendation of the Provincial Board of Lanao.
The municipality of Karomatan consists of the places known as Tagalo, Mabohai, Pandanan, Pikinit, Dangoloan, Dabliston, Calobi, Tapokon, Karomatan, Pitikol, and Sigayan from the municipality of Kapatagan, and Bauyan, Dadoan, Calibao, and Payong from the municipality of Malabang.
The seat of government of the municipality of Karomatan is designated to be the barrio of Karomatan.
The municipalities of Kapatagan and Malabang will consist of their present territories minus the portions included in the municipality of Karomatan as created by the Executive Order.
The organization takes effect upon the appointment and qualification of the mayor, vice-mayor, and a majority of the councilors, and upon certification by the Provincial Treasurer of its financial capacity to pay minimum salaries and wages according to the Minimum Wage Law.
The new municipality must possess the financial capacity to pay its officials and employees the minimum salaries and wages as mandated under the Minimum Wage Law, certified by the Provincial Treasurer.
The mayor, vice-mayor, and a majority of the councilors must be appointed and qualified for the municipality to be organized.
Executive Order No. 588 was signed by President Elpidio Quirino and by Acting Executive Secretary Marciano Roque.
Section sixty-eight of the Revised Administrative Code provides the legal basis and procedural authority for the creation of municipalities in the Philippines, which was the authority invoked to create the municipality of Karomatan.
