Republic Act No. 9977 converts the Monkayo National High School-Awao Annex into an independent national high school called Awao National High School, including the transfer of personnel, assets, liabilities, and records, with the Secretary of Education responsible for its operationalization and implementation.

The act separates the Monkayo National High School Awao Annex in Barangay Awao, Municipality of Monkayo, Province of Compostela Valley from Monkayo National High School and converts it into an independent national high school to be known as Awao National High School.

All personnel, assets, liabilities, and records of the Monkayo National High School Awao Annex are transferred to and absorbed by the Awao National High School.

The Secretary of Education is responsible for including the operationalization of the Awao National High School in the Department's program.

The initial funding shall be charged against the current year's appropriations of the Monkayo National High School Awao Annex.

The amount necessary for the continued operation of the school shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.

The Secretary of Education shall issue rules and regulations necessary to carry out the purpose of this Act.

This Act took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette.

The act was approved by then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

The House of Representatives passed it on October 2, 2008, and the Senate passed it on October 6, 2009.
