The main purpose of Republic Act No. 11725 is to convert the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, into a tertiary hospital named Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center and to appropriate funds for its upgrade and expansion.
The Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center shall be under the direct control and supervision of the Department of Health (DOH).
The bed capacity of the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center shall be increased from one hundred (100) to three hundred (300) beds.
The Chief of Hospital of the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center is responsible for preparing the hospital development plan which shall be submitted to the DOH.
The Act mandates upgrading the existing professional health care services, equipment, and facilities to conform with and be commensurate to the increased bed capacity.
The existing workforce, including doctors, nurses, and support personnel, shall be increased correspondingly to meet the needs of the upgraded hospital.
The Secretary of the DOH, after consultation with the Chief of Hospital and coordination with the Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management and the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, shall determine the additional new positions to be created and filled.
The Secretary of the DOH shall include the implementation of this Act in the Department's program, and the funding shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
All laws, decrees, executive orders, and other presidential issuances inconsistent with this Act are repealed, amended, or modified accordingly.
The Act shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
