The main purpose of Republic Act No. 9676 is to separate the Caloocan City Science High School - CHS Annex in Barangay 62, City of Caloocan from the Caloocan High School (CHS) and convert it into an independent science high school known as Caloocan City Science High School.
The new independent Caloocan City Science High School is located in Barangay Sixty-Two (62), City of Caloocan.
All personnel, assets, liabilities, and records of the Caloocan Science High School - CHS Annex are transferred to and absorbed by the newly established Caloocan City Science High School.
The Secretary of Education is responsible for including the Caloocan City Science High School in the Department of Education's program.
The initial funding for the operationalization of the Caloocan City Science High School shall be charged against the current year's appropriations of the Caloocan City Science High School - CHS Annex.
The amount necessary for the continued operation of the school shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
The Secretary of Education shall issue such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of the Act.
The Act took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
The House of Representatives and the Senate of the Philippines approved Republic Act No. 9676.
The law was signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
