All categories of laboratories must have a clinical work area, waiting/reception area, pathologist area, and access to toilet facilities.

A primary category laboratory must have a minimum clinical work area of 10 square meters with a sink.

A secondary category laboratory must have a minimum clinical work area of 20 square meters with a sink.

A tertiary category laboratory must have a minimum clinical work area of 60 square meters, a sink, and a microbiology room.

Yes, the pathologist area may be either part of or separate from the clinical work area.

A toilet for patients must be accessible from the laboratory and may be adjacent to, near, or within the laboratory.

The clinical work area must be sufficient to accommodate the laboratory's activities and allow for smooth and coordinated workflow.
