Question & AnswerQ&A (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 145)
The corresponding Superintendents of Public Schools, Presidents or Deans of State and Private Universities, and the Principals or Directors of Private Colleges and Schools are authorized to collect the voluntary contributions.
Elementary school pupils are to contribute five centavos, secondary school students ten centavos, and collegiate students twenty centavos.
The voluntary contributions are to be collected during the period beginning on June 19, the date of Rizal's birthday, and ending on December 30, the date of Rizal's death, in the year 1948.
The proceeds are to be used for the repair or reconstruction of the house occupied by Dr. Jose Rizal in Calamba, Laguna, and of Dapitan Park in Zamboanga.
These sites have historical value as national shrines and are meant to be objects of pilgrimage to keep alive the ideals of the Filipino youth and arouse reverence for Dr. Jose Rizal.
The contributions are voluntary.
Both public and private elementary, secondary, and collegiate schools are covered under this Executive Order.
June 19 marks the birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal, and December 30 marks the date of his death; these dates frame the period during which the voluntary contributions are collected to commemorate him.
