RA 11077 reapportions the province of Aklan into two (2) legislative districts.
They commence in the next national and local elections after the effectivity of the Act.
Altavas, Balete, Banga, Batan, Kalibo, New Washington, Libacao, and Madalag.
Buruanga, Ibajay, Lezo, Makato, Malay, Malinao, Nabas, Numancia, and Tangalan.
The FIRST district has 8 municipalities; the SECOND district has 9 municipalities.
The incumbent Representative of the lone legislative district continues to represent Aklan’s legislative district until the new Representatives are duly elected and qualified.
It prevents a gap or interruption in representation by allowing the incumbent to serve until the election and qualification of the new district Representatives.

The Act takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
It repeals, amends, or modifies all laws, rules, and regulations that are inconsistent with RA 11077.
It specifies that the reapportioned districts will be used starting in the next national and local elections after the Act becomes effective.
It clarifies that the incumbent’s authority continues only up to the point of lawful election and qualification of the newly elected Representatives.
It originated in the House of Representatives, was passed by the House on May 28, 2018, amended by the Senate on August 28, 2018, and the amendments were concurred in by the House on September 4, 2018.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved it on September 24, 2018.
