The Civil Governor, with the advice and consent of the Commission, is authorized to appoint the assistant clerk.
The assistant clerk shall receive compensation at the rate of two thousand dollars, money of the United States, per annum.
In case of the death or disability of the clerk, the assistant clerk shall perform the duties until the vacancy is filled or the disability is removed.
The assistant clerk acts as deputy to the clerk and is subject to the general supervision and control of the clerk of the court.
Section three of Act Numbered Four hundred and ninety-six governs the removal and filling of vacancies.
The assistant clerk shall perform such other duties as assigned by the judges of the court or by the clerk of the court.
The provision stating that the Register of Deeds for the city of Manila shall perform the duties of the clerk in case of the death or disability of the clerk is repealed.
The act took effect upon its passage on February 3, 1903.
Because the public good required the speedy enactment of the bill, its passage was expedited in accordance with section two of 'An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws.'
