Title
Increase of Cavite municipalities to 12
Law
Act No. 1551
Decision Date
Oct 25, 1906
The enactment of Act No. 1551 separates the municipality of Bacoor from Imus in the Province of Cavite, reconstituting it as a separate municipality with the same territory it had prior to the passage of Act No. 947.

Q&A (Act No. 1551)

The main purpose of Act No. 1551 is to increase the number of municipalities in the Province of Cavite from eleven to twelve by separating the former municipality of Bacoor from Imus and reconstituting Bacoor with its original territory before Act No. 947.

The former municipality of Bacoor was reconstituted under Act No. 1551.

Bacoor was separated from the municipality of Imus.

The municipal election for Bacoor shall be held at the time of the next regular elections in the Province of Cavite according to the rules in Act No. 730, as amended by Act No. 928.

The elected officials shall not take office and the reconstituted municipality shall not come into existence until the first Monday in January following the elections.

The Act does not interfere with the number of officials to be elected or the regular municipal elections in Imus, unless the class of the municipality changes, in which case the number of councilors will be adjusted per Act No. 1433.

If the class changes, the number of elected councilors will be based on the provisions of Act No. 1433.

The Act takes effect immediately upon its passage.

These Acts contain the rules governing the conduct of municipal elections, which apply to the election for the reconstituted municipality of Bacoor.

Section 3 provides that the public good requires the speedy enactment of this Act, thus expediting its passage in accordance with a procedural law passed in 1900.
