The act amends certain sections of the National Defense Act and Section 19 of Republic Act No. 1831 to regulate military training and service requirements for young men in the Philippines.
Young men must register for military training and service in the calendar year in which they will attain twenty years of age.
The branches include the Philippine Army, Philippine Constabulary, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, and separate Armed Forces of the Philippines units.
The period of training and service is eighteen consecutive months.
Military training must last for at least six months.
The minimum monthly base pay is ten pesos for the first ten months.
They receive an additional five pesos per month for service longer than ten months.
They are entitled to meals, barracks accommodation, medical and dental attendance, clothing, and transportation.
They receive pay and allowances at the same rates prescribed for enlisted men of the Regular Force.
The Secretary of National Defense may allow payment of pay and allowances higher than the prescribed amounts under such regulations as he may prescribe.
These terms shall be understood as 'training service' unless the context provides otherwise.
The act took effect upon its approval on June 19, 1964.
